Over 10% more accounts on The Archive for Education in academic year 2022-2023
27 Jul 2023The end-of-year school reports have been handed out and the desks have been cleared, which can only mean one thing: summer holidays! The perfect time to take a look back at the past academic year. For The Archive for Education, it was one of growth – with new features, more offerings and an increasing number of user accounts.
Sixty of our content partners are now providing materials on The Archive for Education, which is three more than last year. The number of items available to then has also grown: by the end of the school year, we had 26,137 audio and video clips in the database – all carefully selected for the classroom. It’s notable that audio is making up an increasingly large part of this.

To make all these materials easily findable, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to create a new metadata model that is specially tailored to the innovations in secondary education. And our editorial staff comprised of seconded teachers have not been idle either. They have once again provided a wealth of content and inspirational materials to help teachers improve learning outcomes in the classroom.
For a few years now, we have also been opening up our educational image database’s virtual gateways to secondary school students. And we started this last academic year with a bang – by expanding the student area. This means secondary students can now search our educational image database themselves, and gather together audio and video clips for their own collections.
We had a total of 185,184 teachers, trainee teachers and secondary school students with accounts on our education platform at the end of June. A great report: that’s a whopping 11% more than the previous academic year. Now, we are already hatching plans for next year, with new teaching materials and even more opportunities.
