Working groups we coordinate

Cultural Heritage and Copyright user group | in collaboration with FARO - Flemish Institution for Cultural Heritage

In this user group, we exchange experiences regarding copyright, personal data protection and various relevant decrees, laws and regulations. We also examine the impact they have on users in the cultural heritage sector and organise training sessions – such as on the transposition of the European Copyright Directive into Belgian law, concluding copyright contracts, and the use of Creative Commons licences and rights statements from RightsStatements.org.

Interested in joining? Contact FARO staff member Jeroen Walterus or meemoo colleagues Pascal Ennaert and Ellen Van Keer, or keep an eye on our event calendar.

Digital Collection Registration working group | in collaboration with FARO - Flemish Institution for Cultural Heritage

Interested in joining? Contact meemoo colleague Lise Ruts, or keep an eye on our event calendar.

Periodicals Digitisation working group | in collaboration with Flanders Heritage Library and FARO - Flemish Institution for Cultural Heritage

The aim of the Periodicals Digitisation working group is to exchange knowledge between professionals in the cultural heritage sector, in addition to sharing experiences regarding the digitisation of newspapers or magazines.

praktijknetwerksocialemediaarchiveren

Social Media Archiving practice network | in collaboration with KADOC-KU Leuven, Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) and the Dutch organisations IISG, KB and National Archives of the Netherlands

Social media is still seldom archived in Belgium and the Netherlands – even though it’s worth preserving this content for the future. This practice network stems from the project Best practices for archiving social media in Flanders and Brussels. We aim to sustainably anchor exchange knowledge on this topic – and therefore meet a couple of times a year to share experiences and expertise, scrutinise new developments, and initiate joint actions.

Interested in joining? Contact meemoo colleague Ellen Van Keer or Nastasia Vanderperren, or keep an eye on our event calendar.

collegagroep-IIIF

IIIF Working Group | in collaboration with Ghent University Library, Bruges Public Library and Leiden University

In this IIIF working group, the focus is on interesting case studies and knowledge-sharing. With IIIF Fridays, we inform the sector and encourage them to adopt the standard for image exchange in their own operations.
