2016 Tender Digitising
In 2018 we started looking for matches between the List of Names and the News from the Great War collection. We found over a million potential links with identical names, but how do we know for sure we’ve made the right matches and found the right person? We explain our attestation process here.
We’ve said a lot about linked data already, but how do you get started? How do you go about finding interesting entities in your data that are worth publishing? We’ve summarised our process for you here.
The first step of the preparation for the digitisation of DV in 2019 is behind us. During this step, the focus was on the identification of the variety, physical aspects and the distribution of DV-cassettes. We gathered a few conclusions in this interim report.
This dossier is about the tender for the migration of cassettes of the DV-format: DV, DVCAM and DVCPRO. We launched this tender in 2019.
This dossier concerns the tender for the digitisation of damaged films (16mm, 35 mm and 8mm, super8 and 9.5mm). We launched this tender in 2018.
In preparation of digitisation project 7, we researched the ideal output format for 22,000 DV cassettes. We used this document as a basis for the specifications and to fine-tune the way we worked with the digitisation company Memnon.
On the website News of the Great War, a meemoo initiative, you can find more than 50.000 digitised newspapers from the First World War. Meemoo is continuously working on the accessibility of this digital archive. This blog describes how we enable researchers to carry out large scale and semi-automatic searches in this archive by applying Linked Data.

Results FFv1 and MKV study

In 2013, meemoo chose MXF as a container and JPEG2000 as an encoding for our archive masters, together with content partners from the heritage sector. The technological development of audiovisual codecs does not stand still and the development and possible standardisation of FFv1 and MKV are interesting evolutions. In this blogpost we explain the results of an exploratory study about MKV and FFv1 which meemoo carried out in the margins of the Preforma project together with Packed vzw and Media Area.
In this report, we look back on the digitisation of the audio CD-R carriers. This digitisation, part of meemoo's second digitisation round, was completed in September 2015. This report is available in dutch only.
In December 2016, the digitisation of this second carrier, part of meemoo's first digitisation wave, was completes. This report is available in dutch only.
Statistics and notes on the reformatting of jpeg2000/mxf files to other preservation and access formats in the meemoo archive.
This dossier is about the tender for the digitisation of 1/2-inch, 1-inch and 2-inch audio tapes, Laserdisc, Video2000, D-2 and D-3 video cassettes, 1/4-inch video tape, CD-video, video-CD, Video8, Hi8 and Digital 8, Steno-Cassette, minicassette and microcassette, MiniDisc and Digital Audio Tapes. This dossier is about the second tender for the digitisation of damaged films. We launched this tender in 2016.
