Relive the first IIIF Friday

12 Nov 2020

Couldn’t attend the first of three IIIF Fridays on 9 October? But still want to find out more about possible applications for exchanging images and IIIF in your organisation? Rest assured you can now watch the first session again, and register for the next digital sessions on 20 November and 11 December.

Dries Moreels from Ghent University Library gave participants a general introduction in the first session, and explained what IIIF is and how you can use it. This was followed by various case studies looking at IIIF’s possibilities.

  • AfricaMuseum case study, by Dieter Van Hassel

  • Amsab-ISG (Institute of Social History) case study, by Kim Robensyn, Sofie Veramme en Tecle Zere

  • Image management: applying accessibility principles within Authentication API: KMSKA (Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp), by Nathalie Monteyne en Jeff Van Herck

  • Using IIIF for different platforms / Updating set-up: LIBIS / KULeuven Libraries, (Roxanne Wyns)

  • IIIF in DAMS Antwerp: City of Antwerp, by Jeroen Budts from Inuits

The session lasted 90 minutes and you can watch it again here (in Dutch only). You can find the presentations here.

This autumn, together with the Flemish Art Collection, Bruges Public Library (Openbare Bibliotheek Brugge) and Ghent University, we’re organising two further sessions in the ‘IIIF Fridays’ online series (in Dutch). The second session will use five case studies to look in greater depth at compiling collections, storytelling, annotation and transcription. The third session is an interactive Q&A session based on videos from IIIF Week 2020.

Register here.

In addition to these IIIF Fridays, we’re also organising an IIIF peer group together with the same partners. If you would like to work with us on this topic, please let us know via info@iiifcollegagroep.be.
