Heritage databases: what did we learn from the focus groups?

25 Oct 2022

We’re not replacing the Erfgoedinzicht and Erfgoedplus Flemish heritage databases without first receiving valuable input from current and future users. That’s why, in May and June 2022, we put our heads together with these users in more than 20 focus and advisory groups (link in Dutch). And we’ve now summarised what we took away from these conversations in a report for you. Some of the topics discussed include: choosing between one or two systems, the need for a collection window, and different types of heritage data.

Have you already subscribed to the project newsletter? This quarterly bulletin brings you up to speed with everything going on in the world of Flemish heritage databases. A second email (link in Dutch) was sent out recently, about the report on the focus and advisory groups. We’ve distilled all the input about the key points in comparison with the initial project proposal, and converted everything into specific next steps.

The advisory group will meet again this autumn. On 6 December, we discussed the results of the follow-up activities in details. This group is open to anyone in the heritage sector who wants to help think about the content of the project and provide feedback.
