Get started with our spring training courses

28 Jan 2022

This spring, we have another series of exciting (online) training courses and workshops. Whether you work in education or the cultural heritage sector, or you’re a meemoo content partner, there’s something for everyone. Dive into the full range of options below.

Do you want to make your public domain collections accessible?

10 February: Public Domain Day

For Public Domain Day, together with Ghent University Library, the Royal Library of Belgium and Wikimedia Belgium, we’re contributing best practices for providing access to public domain collections. Not to be missed this year? The debate on creative (re-)use.

Register before 10 February.

17 February: Public Domain Day Rights Workshop

Which (parts of your) collections can you easily make open and accessible? In the rights workshop, we’ll look at the legal aspects of the public domain and putting theory into practice. You’ll also discover more about the Public Domain Tool.

Registration is open until 16 February.

Do you work with metadata in photographic or audiovisual collections?

22 February: FAME study day 2

Useful content metadata is rare in cultural heritage collections. That’s why, in the FAME project, we’ll be investigating whether automated metadata creation can help to fill these gaps. And what potential challenges could this scaling up bring with it? We’ll be reflecting on this issue in the second FAME study day.

Registration is open until 20 February.

The third and final FAME study day will take place in March. More info about the date and programme will follow soon.

Any questions about the digital storage of arts heritage?

11 February: Webinar ‘To imagine otherwise: future archives’

In this series of webinars, held in English, four experts talk about the archive of the future. Michelle Caswell (Associate Professor of Archival Studies, Department of Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles) offers a feminist view on archive preservation in this second part.

We’re organising this series of webinars in collaboration with CEMPER (Centre for Music and Performing Arts Heritage in Flanders), Letterenhuis (‘House of Literature’), M HKA/CKV (Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp), VAi (Flanders Architecture Institute) en FARO (Flemish Institution for Cultural Heritage).

Registration is open until 10 February.

Need any tips for your digital collection management?

22 March: Coaching day: tools for digital collection management

On this coaching day, our team of experts will be on hand to answer all your questions about various tools to help you manage your digital collection.

Register before 19 March.

Work in the wider cultural sector?

3-17 May: Open cultural data bootcamp

Planning to use open data in your organisation, but could benefit from a few tips? In the fifth edition of the bootcamp, we’ll take a closer look at the principles of open cultural data and the tools you can use. We’ll also help you draw up an action plan for your specific project.

24 May: Digital Repair Café

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to capture content from old carriers such as CD-ROMs and floppy disks. No prior technical knowledge required.

Registration is open until 17 May.

Are you a teacher (in training) who’s looking for lesson inspiration?

8 February - 25 May: The Archive for Education workshops

Want to discover our educational platform and enrich your lessons? This spring, we’re again organising online demonstrations and teaching workshops. Together with KlasCement, we’re also running live training days in each province. So you can learn all about these two platforms – both crammed full of inspiration for your lessons!

Are you a meemoo content partner and archive system user?
