Contribute to the iPRES 2024 programme

7 Feb 2024

Is 16-20 September already highlighted in your diary? That’s when iPRES, the International Conference on Digital Preservation, is taking place in Ghent and Flanders. Did you know that – as well as taking part by simply attending – you can also help to shape the programme? You still have a few months to take the opportunity to submit your own proposal. Read on to find out why this is important and how to go about it.

Three reasons to submit a proposal

  1. This international conference is the perfect platform to meet a global audience engaged in digital preservation.

  2. It’s an excellent opportunity to expand your network. The conference attracts a wide audience, including archivists, librarians, researchers, suppliers and policymakers in the cultural, media and government sectors – and you can also expect to meet scientists, university staff and students.

  3. You can put your organisation in the spotlight by presenting an innovative digital preservation project, advance the community by sharing a case study with lessons learned, or promote your activities to enhance your (international) profile.

How to submit your proposal

If you’re keen to contribute to this 20th edition of iPRES, make sure your submission fits into one of the three themes: From document to data, Scaling up and Start 2 preserve. Besides choosing a theme, you also need to select a format that matches your contribution. Depending on the nature of your proposal, please take into account the different deadlines for submission:

17 March

15 May

Papers (research, practice, etc.)

Demo (‘the Bake off)’

Panel discussions

Game format, games

Tutorials

Birds of a feather sessions

Workshops

Lightning talk, poster

For details on what these formats entail and the guidelines to follow, click here. You can also rewatch the webinar – which explains the guidelines and addresses frequently asked questions – from 11 January. If you still have any questions, please feel free to come to one of our weekly online drop-in sessions. No registration required. Ready to submit your proposal?
