Key user on hetarchief.be

Target group:
meemoo’s content partners

Hetarchief.be makes the digital archive material that meemoo preserves accessible to the general public, but also to the content partners who contribute to it. The platform and access for employees of content partners is the result of a special collaboration between meemoo and its Flemish cultural, media and government partners.

Previously, content partners’ employees could use Catalogus Pro to search their own and each other’s archives. But this functionality was integrated into hetarchief.be in 2023, and now our content partners with the unique key user role have immediate and exclusive access to a wealth of archival content. In addition to our content partners, who are able to view and listen straight away, the general public can now also visit hetarchief.be to search descriptions of over 1.5 million audiovisual clips from more than 140 organisations’ archives. User-friendliness and a central search function are paramount here.

Our content partners can of course manage – from the meemoo archive system (MAM) – what other content partners and the general public can see on hetarchief.be, and what they can’t, within their general agreement framework with meemoo.

Hetarchief.be is where we start looking if we’re interested in other partners’ content. The platform is really easy to use and as key user we can view the content straight away. It’s a great place to do research for our exhibitions, for example, or even check our own collection.’

Part of a greater whole

Catalogus Pro has been part of hetarchief.be since 2023. The general public have been able to search the image and audio content metadata – that we store there for our content partners – on this platform for some time now. Now, on the completely updated platform, you can search more efficiently and even make appointments with providers to view their content in situ, and content partners can play video and audio clips from their own and each other’s collections.

Why are we bringing different platforms together? We want to ensure the best possible user experience for everyone and create a single place where you can find, search, view and listen to all our partners’ content. It also makes it easier for us to keep up with new developments in the digital landscape.

What does the future hold? Now that hetarchief.be has been updated, the platform is ready to welcome even more types of content in the coming years. This will include newspapers to begin with, followed by photographic materials.
