Wanted! Editorial board members for the Publications Entry Book

24 Apr 2023

Do you know a lot about registering publications? And would you like to use your experience to help cultural heritage organisations register their publications in a structured, standardised way? Then we want you! We are looking for editors with expertise to join the editorial board for the Publications Entry Book.

Behind the scenes, in addition the better known Objects Entry Book, we’ve been working on another handbook for publications. The Publications Entry Book has descriptive rules for documenting publications in a library management system, based on the descriptive standards currently in use in the library sector. We developed the first data profile for registering old prints in collaboration with Flanders Heritage Library in 2020. We then finalised the entry instructions last year.

We are now looking for five to ten editorial board members to approve the contents in this entry book. As a board member, with our support you will ensure the quality of the entry book, initially spending two to four days a year on this task, but this will gradually reduce over the coming years. What can you expect?

  • Twice a year, you will meet with other members to discuss and resolve issues related to entry instructions, data profiles, the standards used and their practical application. The first meeting is scheduled take place in the autumn of 2023;

  • In the meantime, you will review the entry instructions and help to develop new data profiles. You will receive your first assignment after the first meeting.
